DARE TO DREAM-THE WORLD IS YOURS

About me

DEBBIE A SCHLUETER, OWNER&TRAVEL AGENT

www.cruiseshipcenters.com/DebbieSchlueter to book your next adventure

Hi, just a little about myself and why you should book your travel with me.

According to my mother my first words ever uttered as my aunt was leaving my house one day is when I stood up in my high chair and firmly stated "I Wanna go". And I have not stopped saying it since.

I started in the travel business in 1968 when I joined American Airlines as a flight attendant. When marriage forced me to quit(yep, back in the days when "stewardessess could not be married") I began working for Falconer Travel Agency in San Mateo, California. I really missed my travel benefits and got a job for United Airlines on the ground at their maintenance base in the San Francisco operation.  My husband at that time was an NBA journeyman center and he was traded to the Portland Trailblazers. I tried to get a transfer with United to the Portland operation but the person with the least seniority in Portland at that time had 30 years on the job. I was told that the only way positions opened up in Portland was when someone died so my airline career came to an end but my love of travel never has.

I have sold real estate in the Portland Metro area for the last 36 years very successfully and still love to help people "find their dreams".  As I approach retirement in the next 4-5 years from active selling I have found my new niche in helping people find their travel dreams, especially people who are physically challenged. I have spent the last 8 years taking a dear friend who has post-polio syndrome and walks with a walker along with my 93 year old mother in law (also on a walker)on fabulous trips around the world. YES, YOU CAN TRAVEL IF YOU HAVE A HANDICAP. SOMETIMES YOU JUST NEED TO GIVE IT A LITTLE MORE THOUGHT AND PLANNING BEFORE YOU GO AND I AM HERE TO HELP WITH THAT PROCESS.

I have been gallivanting all over the world finding more and more fun spots that I love and want to revisit and exploring new ones all the time.  Just a few of my trips include taking my kids on a 17 day tour of Europe with 5 days in London at the end on our own when they were 7 and 11 years old;  taking a 30 day tour of Asia shopping trip with a  5 day visit to Manila to visit friends before the shopping trip, a 30 day trip through both the North and South Islands of New Zealand, Australia with stops in Fiji and Tahiti at each end of the trip;  A 19 day cruise through the Panama Canal from San Diego to Ft Lauderdale, Florida; 2 Trans-Atlantic cruises-one in each direction; a cruise around South America from Buenos Aires to Santiago including Cape Horn and The Falklan Islands; a 3 week self guided train trip through Italy with some fantastic guides in Florence, Rome and the Chianti Region of Tuscany; 4 trips to all the island of the Hawaiian chain; 2 cruises through the Inland Passage to Alaska; 4 Caribbean cruises to most of the islands and San Juan; a New England fall cruise along the eastern seaboard of the US and up to Canada;  and many 2-3  week trips to one of my favorite spots on earth-Lanzarote in the Canary Islands with visits to Tenerife and Fuerteventura as well; spending quite a bit of time throughout Spain including Madrid, Barcelona,Seville and the Costa del Sol and also in Portugal in Lisbon, Fatima,Obidos, and the Algarve. I have also spent considerable time in Mexico, including Puerto Vallarta, Cabo san Lucas, Acapulco, Mexico City, Cancun, Isla Mujeres, the Mexican Riveria area.

I will help anyone plan the trip of their dreams. I will lead groups of individuals on trips  and cruises if there is a need for that type of  guidance.  When I travel I always scope out handicap friendly hotels, restaurants, attractions and I will be posting those on my website for people to get ideas of what they might want to do.

Bookmark my site and check back often as I will be outlining my past trips along with specific itineraries you can follow complete with photos so you can get an idea of what type of trips you might enjoy.  I will also be  posting all my future trips along with suggestions on handicap friendly places, fun stops, great restaurants to visit and with tips on how to travel and get the most for your $$'s.

Happy Travels  to YOU and may our paths cross soon in person.
